Joseph Leppek 


Joseph Leppek is a tenor from Novi, Michigan...


...who most recently starred as Tony in The Glimmerglass Festival’s new production of West Side Story.  This season he is the resident tenor artist with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City and with the company, performed Glad Hand in West Side Story and sings in the Exploration Series concerts throughout the year, including "High Fidelity Opera" and "Mack the Knife is the Man I Love". 

He has performed professionally in productions and concerts across the United States, including The Summer King (Mariachi 1) at Michigan Opera Theatre, the world premiere of It’s A Wonderful Life! (Mr. Martini) at the Houston Grand Opera, and The Siege of Calais (Giachomo de Wisants) as a young artist with The Glimmerglass Festival. As a studio artist with Opera Saratoga, he performed in Il Postino (The Priest).

Joseph is a two-time district winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council competition, as well as taking 2nd place at the William C. Byrd vocal competition. Joseph received his Master’s in Voice Performance and Opera from the prestigious Rice University under the tutelage of the late Barbara Clark. There, he was seen as Lysander in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. He holds a Bachelor’s in Voice Performance from DePauw University where he studied with Caroline Smith.

As a concert artist he has sung with the Michigan Philharmonic, the Rochester Symphony Orchestra, and Houston Youth Symphony and Houston Masterworks Chorale. He was also a soloist and chorister with the Houston Bach Society from 2015-2017.
